Neal Smith is a leading international sports biomechanist and is on the executive of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport. Neil’s current research direction examines the biomechanics of non-linear motion in sports, the analysis of kicking actions and interactions between boots and sports surfaces. Of particular note, Neil examined the 3D mechanics of Ronaldo’s free-kick kicking action. Neal lectures on both the undergraduate programme, and the postgraduate masters programme, in addition to supervising postgraduate research students. He is also active in providing sports science support work to athletes from a variety of different sports.
